Paver Sealing FAQ Jacksonville FL

Straight Answers About Paver Sealing

Real answers to the questions Jacksonville homeowners ask about paver sealing, weeds, white haze, polymeric sand, stone sealing, travertine sealing, and concrete sealing.

Do I really need to seal my pavers?

Yes. Florida sunshine and weather will excessively wear the surface of your pavers. Mold and insects taking over the joints can lead to destabilization and, in many cases, significant repairs.

Sealing your pavers gives them protection against acids, grease, oils, stains, and discoloration that commonly disfigure beautiful driveways, patios, and pool decks. The enhanced look our sealer provides can also make your pavers look more like what you expected when they were first installed.

Can’t I seal them myself?

Yes. However, my favorite way to answer that question is this: if you gave Tiger Woods’ golf clubs to someone who does not play golf, would you expect that person to be a pro golfer?

The person may have superior equipment, but without the experience, skill, and technique, they will not match the results of an experienced professional. Paver sealing is no different.

Unless you have the expensive equipment, a high GPM pressure washer, hot water capability, experience with chemicals, proper spray equipment, proper technique, a lot of time, and most importantly, know how to apply the sealer correctly, you most likely will not be happy with the results.

Why should I choose Paver Saver?

We are the best. Really. We actually believe this.

We use only the best products available and apply them exactly the way they were designed. We have built a reputation for professionalism and quality workmanship. This is our job, our livelihood, and we take it seriously.

Many other companies cut corners and fail to pay attention to the craft of application. That creates failed sealing jobs and a hefty bill for the customer. We are proud to use trusted products and to reference over 10,000 completed jobs as part of our experience.

Why are my pavers turning white?

Sorry to break the news, but in many cases you are the recipient of a poor sealing job. Either a very cheap product was applied, a solvent-based sealer was applied incorrectly, or a combination of both.

In some cases, efflorescence was not treated prior to sealing and the white residue has become trapped under the sealer. In the industry this is often called “blushing” or “ghosting.” The fix usually requires stripping and resealing.

In rare cases of extreme conditions where ground water is frequently present, or in shady, wet areas, efflorescence can become a continual problem due to moisture below the pavers. A thorough analysis of the area may result in a recommendation not to seal the pavers. This is extremely rare, but honesty matters.

Why do I have weeds growing between my pavers?

You have either never had your pavers sealed, or the product used did not stabilize the sand in the joints and lock the weeds out.

Many times competitors do not spray enough sealer onto the pavers to flood the joints and penetrate deep into the sand. The reason is often the product they are using. Many paver sealers cannot be applied too heavily or in multiple coats without turning white or becoming slippery.

Our products are applied correctly, as the manufacturer designed them to be. The result is joint sand that is stabilized for years. Weeds and ants are reduced dramatically compared to normal untreated paver joints.

Are your products expensive?

Yes. You get what you pay for when it comes to coatings and sealers.

Our prices are still competitive, even though we pay more for our products than the cheaper alternatives used by many others. Our theory is simple: it costs much more to reseal every year or to strip and reseal a failed job. Do it right the first time.

Why don’t you use polymeric sand like some competitors?

Polymeric sand is a dinosaur living in the 21st century. It has its applications, but in general, it is a bad choice given the alternatives.

New water-based urethane products can be flooded on to penetrate deep into the joints and harden normal washed aggregate sand, which is much better for joint stabilization. You can also choose from white or brown sand to better match the application.

How long does the sealing process take?

Small to medium-sized jobs are usually performed in one day. Larger jobs, or those requiring repairs or stripping, usually run a maximum of three days.

Our product is waterproof in hours and can usually be walked on the same night.

How long does paver sealing last in Jacksonville?

That depends on the surface, sun exposure, drainage, traffic, condition of the pavers, and previous products used. Jacksonville heat, rain, and humidity are tough on exterior surfaces, so the product and application method matter.

The best answer comes from looking at the actual surface, not guessing from a photo alone.

Is paver sealing slippery?

It can be if the wrong product is used or if the sealer is applied incorrectly. This is one of the reasons experience matters. Applying the right amount of the right product is what separates a professional result from a failed sealing job.

Can you seal travertine and natural stone?

Yes. We seal travertine and natural stone surfaces including pool decks, patios, walkways, and outdoor entertainment areas. These surfaces need the correct sealing approach because they are different from standard concrete pavers.

Can you seal concrete?

Yes. We offer concrete sealing for driveways, patios, walkways, and pool decks. Concrete sealing helps protect the surface and creates a cleaner, more finished appearance.

How much does paver sealing cost in Jacksonville?

Cost depends on the size of the area, condition of the surface, whether repairs or stripping are needed, access, furniture moving, joint sand condition, and the type of sealer being used.

The easiest way to get a realistic number is to send your name, address, phone number, email, and a description of the area to be sealed through our estimate request form.
